ReconCell is based on novel ICT technologies for programming, monitoring, and executing assembly operations in an autonomous way. It can be partly automatically reconfigured to execute new assembly tasks efficiently, precisely, and economically with a minimum amount of human intervention. This is possible due to recent developments in the area of robot programming, fast reconfigurable machinery, vision technologies, modelling, and simulation. The developed system is backed up by a business intelligence module that guides production planning and the introduction of new technologies. The aim of business intelligence is to show that the ReconCell system is economically viable especially for SMEs.
