2 – Challenge, Value & Description
Challenge
Communication (data, schedules, appointments) between PRIMA INDUSTRIE, its clients and its suppliers is a manual process which often follows ad-hoc procedures for each participant, with little standardization and a big cost to insert a new participant, and especially when maintenance is required, can cause intervention times to stretch as many actors need to synchronize with each other.
Value
Harmonization of the means of communication and automatization of as many steps as possible in scheduling and planning of maintenance interventions can help orchestrating communication and automatizing maintenance prediction, planning, scheduling, and execution, with the possibility of automatically check components and service operators’ availability.
Description
Using proprietary solution, PRIMA INDUSTRIE is able to gather data from its customers machines and analyse it to produce predictive maintenance reports; within the scope of the SM4RTENANCE project, PRIMA will exploit the DataSpace framework to setup a network that allows it to require additional data from machines, check its warehouse stocks according to the planned interventions, eventually place orders to its suppliers, and communicate planned interventions to customers.

3 – Performance, Access & Contact Info
Performance
A test DataSpace has been implemented and will be tested in a scenario with a customer to enable two-way communication: to inform the customer of a planned maintenance intervention and to allow the customer themselves to accept/deny/modify it. Full implementation will see the DataSpace allowing communication with all customers and with all suppliers, providing a connected space for standardized data exchange and APIs for automatic data retrieval.
Lessons Learned & Observations
It was certainly important to approach the concepts of data space because data management is a key aspect of new business models. The possibility of secure data sharing opens the door to the creation of many automated services that allow for enormous resource savings.
Replication Potential & Feasibility Assessment
The use case was developed for a specific system category and a limited number of components. PRIMA intends to replicate the same activity on other components and other types of systems. There will be no feasibility issues if the necessary information to analyse for the new system and component categories is added.
